LEARY TOPS MODS, SUPERS HIT ELEVEN SECOND LAPS AT MONADNCOK
Monadnock Speedway Saturday, June 15, event story

By Gary Dutton

WINCHESTER, N.H.- Modified star Tyler Leary won his first event of the
summer on the high banks of Monadnock Speedway Saturday. Hillary Renaud topped the Super Streets for the second week in a row, Six Shooter titan Michael Yeaton stayed unbeaten on the summer, and open-wheel ace Jeffrey Battle turned an incredible in-race lap of 11.054 seconds in the night’s Thunder In The Mountains main event.

Richie Yeaton was victorious in the Little Webb’s 350 Super Series main, while
Jimmy Zellman continued his early-season domination of the Pure Stocks, Bob Williams rocked the Minis, and Owen Zilinski earned his third 2024 Mad Pups victory lap Saturday.

What a night it was on the high banks. Huge show, huge crowd, and a seven-
division card of racing completed in just under three hours; another major success for the JDV Productions team. All this, and one of the summer’s biggest events, the 15 th annual Firecracker 100, still two weeks away.

JT Cloutier rocketed into the early lead in Saturday’s Mad Dog Modified main
event, holding rookie sensation Colton Martin in his shadow the first 11 laps until a violent meeting with the turn four wall ended his night.

Martin’s hopes for victory were quickly dashed too, as a flat on the ensuing restart send him pitside and moved Brad Zahensky up to the point. From there, Zahensky and former Modified champion Tyler Leary raced under a blanket until Leary took the top
spot on lap 29.

Once in front, Leary would not be denied. Setting fast time the final dozen laps,
he scored his first Mad Dog Modified win of the season, his second win of the weekend, and his 25 th overall victory on the high banks. Zahensky celebrated in second, with Martin blasting back through the field for third.

Reigning track champion Nate Wenzel was fourth in Saturday’s 40-lapper, while
Kimmy Rivet’s fifth-place run kept her second in points behind Leary. Nobody on the planet was faster than Jeffrey Battle Saturday night. A quick bobble in time trials, though, denied him the win the night’s 40-lap Thunder In The Mountains main event.

Rich Eaton led all the way to earn the 350 Super Modified victory in Saturday’s
nightcap event. Ryan Locke, up for second on lap 11, held strong to score an impressive runner-up finish. And then there was Battle.

Returning from wheeling a Modified here a week earlier in the Winchester Open
100, Battle started in row four of Saturday’s Super Modified main, soaring up to third in the lightning fast event. With the entire field turning sub-12 second laps on the newly paved oval, Battle was unmatched as he nearly eclipsed the 11-second mark. Without cautions, the whole race lasted just seven minutes, 43 seconds.

Hillary Renaud has developed a successful Super Street formula; drive fast, stay
out of trouble, and let the rest of the field fight for the leftovers behind her. Saturday, the Vernon, VT star led the final 26 laps to score her second win in a row.

Behind her, Chris Riendeau, from deep in the field, roared into second on lap 27,
bringing Zach Zilinski with him. Zilinski, who’d led early, blasted back from fifth late in the race to score his podium finish.

Jimmy Zellman continued his rock star season of Pure Stock racing Saturday,
while multi-time champion Chris Davis suffered yet another chapter in his nightmare summer. Zellman took the lead from Chris Chambers on lap two, then holding Davis in his shadow en route to his fourth win of the year. Davis, though, didn’t quite make it to the podium. With the white flag in the air,
his ride shut down, dropping him well out of the money. Potent Andrea St. Amour’s runner-up finish left her two markers atop the points parade, while Chambers earned the night’s third-place hardware.

Bob Williams passed Louie Maher on lap two of the Mini Stock feature and
rocketed off into another time zone to score his first 2024 victory. Jon Fultz notched the runner-up finish, with Erin Aiken finishing at his bumper in third.

Owen Zilinski took the lead on lap two of Saturday’s Mad Pups feature and led all
the way en route to his third win of the summer. Victory, though, was almost snatched away from him in the final turn, as he and Markus O’Neil spilt a lapper, giving O’Neil the briefest of leads before then dropping back into the winner’s shadow. One-time winner Hunter Duquette was third.

Six Shooter blaster Michael Yeaton took the lead on lap three of his Saturday
night feature and sailed off to his fifth win in as many 2024 outings. Garrett Barry was second on the night.

There will be no racing next Saturday, June 22, as the storied oval pauses for its
2024 summer break. The track will return to action on Saturday, June 29, when it hosts the 15 th annual Firecracker 100, with the Mad Dog Modifieds squaring off in 100 laps of excitement atop a seven-division card of racing.
